- Neighbourhood Plans Roadmap: Guide [PDF, 1.3 MB]. A guide to help communities decide whether or not to produce a neighbourhood plan for their area and, if yes, to guide them through the process of doing so and thinking about how it will be delivered.
- Project for Public Spaces(external link): The website of this non-profit organisation dedicated to helping people create and sustain public places that build strong communities contains associated information and resources. These include the 11 principles for creating great community spaces.
- Bank of IDEAS(external link): Provides various information handouts to help strengthen community building.
- NZ Navigator Trust(external link): Provides digital tools and resources to equip and enhance the work done by community groups.
- Community Matters(external link): A programme whereby the Department of Internal Affairs partners with a community to support it to achieve its community-led project.
- CommunityNet Aotearoa(external link): An online hub of resources designed to strengthen communities.
- The Pop-Up Placemaking Tool Kit(external link): A practical guide to help use temporary projects to improve communities for people of all ages.
- Event resources: Information for event organisers to consider when planning an event.
- Get Set Go: A guide to organising community recreation programmes and events.
- Spread the word: A guide to promoting community recreation programmes and events.
- CINCH (Community Information Christchurch)(external link): A database of community groups and private spaces where events could be held.
- Well Connected New Zealand(external link): A map that enables people to zoom in on their neighbourhood and discover the various community groups and facilities around them.
- Summer with your neighbours: Information to help your plan an event with your neighbours, such as a street party or potluck meal.
- Running a street party: Information to help organise a neighbourhood street party.
- Edible Christchurch: Contains information about how community gardens, edible parks or school gardens can be established, cared for and enjoyed by the community.
- How to create a mural in a public place(external link): This toolkit prepared by the Auckland Council provides a practical guide to creating a mural in a public place.
- Adopt a Street: This programme offers free training and supplies to those looking to address graffiti in their neighbourhood. For more information visit the Council’s Graffiti Programme page or come along to a volunteer training session at 180 Smith Street on the first Thursday of each month between 12:30pm and 1:30pm.
- Commercial centre factsheets: These provide a snapshot of Christchurch (including Banks Peninsula’s) larger commercial centres’ current state, relevant issues and longer term trends in respect to transport and access, physical amenity and economic and social wellbeing.
