Garden of Tāne

The Garden of Tāne is a beautiful scenic bush in Akaroa criss-crossed by a maze of tracks linking together the adjoining historic cemeteries, a wonderful children's playground, and two spectacular view points over the harbour.

Start	Multiple entry points; the main entrance is at the corner of Rue Jolie and Aylmers Valley Road. A playground is located near the main entrance

Description	Multiple tracks meander through the Garden of Tāne. Discover mature exotic trees and native regeneration, beautiful birdsong, lovely views and a rich botanical and human history. Several historic cemeteries, where many of the early Akaroa settlers are buried, are worth wandering through, providing a window into the past. After wet weather, the track can get very muddy and slippery. Wear sturdy footwear and take care.
