Details
Addington Brook is a spring and stormwater-fed waterway in southwest Christchurch that drains into the Ōtākaro/Avon River near Christchurch Hospital and the Botanic Gardens.
To help improve water quality, we are installing new stormwater filtration equipment in the Lester Lane road reserve, between Deans Avenue and the railway lines (see map below).
The project involves building a new pump station, two gross pollutant traps to remove sediment, piping and four Filterra Bioscapes to remove contaminating. We will also landscape the area and upgrade streetlighting. The work is part of the broader Addington Brook renewal project.
Impacts
- Some carparks will be unavailable along Lester Lane throughout the project.
- Pedestrians and cyclists will be detoured around the worksite. Please follow all signage.
- There may be increased noise, dust and vibrations during the work
