Work Details
The rock revetment works will involve the supply and placement of large rock along the foreshore adjacent to the existing seawall. New low-permeability geotextile fabric will be laid over exposed sections of clay and eroded faces to provide long-term erosion protection.
The rock will be sourced locally from within Banks Peninsula.
Upon completion of the works, disturbed areas will be reinstated with topsoil and grass where required.
Hours of Work
Monday to Saturday: 7:00 am to 6:00 pm
Some out-of-hours work may be required due to weather conditions and tidal constraints.
Impact of the Work
- There will be increased noise levels during the rock placement works.
- A temporary construction yard will be established on Chorlton Road at the closed landfill site.
- There will be an increase in truck movements through Okains Bay.
- Public access to the Okains Bay Transfer Station will be maintained throughout the works.
This work is being undertaken to strengthen the foreshore and protect the existing seawall from ongoing erosion, helping to improve the long-term resilience of the area.
