Details
Work includes shared pathways, separated cycleways, street and footpath improvements, new traffic signals at the Harrow Street/Aldwins Road intersection, new median berms, road humps and road markings. Work will be carried out in seven stages. Some of these works may be completed at night and we’ll send out detailed updates to residents and businesses as we reach each stage to outline any impacts.
Stage 1: New traffic signals at the intersection of Harrow Street and Aldwins Road (late July to mid November)
Work includes removing the existing slip lane island and installing new traffic signals, pedestrian crossings, and cycle crossings at the Harrow Street/Aldwins Road intersection. The intersection will be closed for the duration of the works, with detours in place, including changes to Route 80 (Lincoln–Parklands) bus services. Residents will continue to have access to their properties via surrounding local roads. Please refer to the detour map, which also shows temporary no stopping/no parking restrictions on Bordesley Street to accommodate the bus detour and ensure safe traffic flow.
Stage 2: Aldwins Road, southbound, from Linwood Avenue to Marcroft Street (two weeks)
Work includes installing a combination of a shared path and separated cycleway on the eastern side of Aldwins Road from Animates southbound to 134 Aldwins Road (New Beginnings Preschool). Stage 2 starts Wednesday 29 July. Traffic impacts include:
- A short road closure at the intersection of Marcroft Street and Aldwins Road (three days).
- A southbound lane drop will be in place in the kerbside lane for the duration of the works. Southbound traffic can continue to use the available lane.
- The existing westbound bus stops (18815 and 18827) on Harrow Street will be temporarily relocated further west to 30 Harrow Street.
- There will be limited southbound on-road parking on Aldwins Road from Linwood Avenue to the Harrow Street intersection.
Stages 3–7:
The map below sets out these stages of work. Each of these stages will take 2–3 weeks to complete. Some short (1–3 day) intersection road closures will be needed at Bass Street, Edmonds Street, Mackenzie Avenue, Sullivan Avenue, Grenville Street, Frederick Street, and Newcastle Street. We’ll provide residents and businesses with detailed information about the impacts as we get closer to each stage.
Information for residents
- Access for vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists to impacted properties within our worksite will be maintained.
- Please advise our team if you have specific requirements e.g. medical visits, large deliveries, home help or any planned works.
- There’ll be increased construction noise and vibration at times, and we’ll do our best to keep this to a minimum.
- The work will have no impact on any services such as water, electricity, telecommunications and gas.
- The timing of the work and certain activities will depend on the weather and the roads.
- Please put your bins out as usual by 6am on your collection day. Our team will move them and return them if needed.
Noise
There may be increased noise, dust and vibrations during work but it shouldn’t impact on your power, water, gas or phone services.
