Details
Activity on site has been minimal for the last few weeks while we allowed for the imported materials to settle into place for the foundation base. In the coming weeks the piled materials will be tested to assess if they have reached the expected and required compaction levels. Once the materials are ready, crews will then begin extracting some of the base course and preparing for piling to begin in September.

Trenching across shared path near Papanui Stream for service investigations - Wednesday 19 and Thursday 20 August 2026
Investigative testing in a small area of the shared path is required ahead of works in the new year. The area to be trenched for investigation is adjacent to the main construction site by Papanui Stream.
The shared path will remain open during these two days of trenching and testing, however it will be narrowed for
a short distance to allow the crew to safely carry out these activities. The narrowing of the shared path will switch from one side to the other, ensuring there is always space for cyclists and pedestrians to pass safely.
If you are traveling past on a bike or e-scooter, please slow down past the work area for the safety of you and your fellow path users navigating the narrower space.
Temporary closure of makeshift path between the work site and Papanui Stream - Thursday 27 August 2026 to Wednesday 31 March 2027
A few residents have been utilising a makeshift path along Papanui Stream to get to and from the shared path. With work starting soon for excavation, construction and connection of water pipes in this area, we will be closing the makeshift path area that runs alongside the work site until the end of March 2027.
If we are able to reopen this area earlier, we will do so. Please use alternative routes during the this period.
Piling works commencing - Wednesday 2 September 2026 for up to six (6) weeks
Piling machinery will soon be arriving on site with piling works commencing on Tuesday 2 September and continue for up to six weeks.
A rigid inclusion piling system is being installed for the building foundations. This piling system was chosen as the installation process generates lower levels of noise and vibration than other piling methods. While nearby residents may still notice some additional noise and vibration during this period, the crew will do all they can to mitigate any impact and complete the piling process as quickly as possible.
Work impacts
During this stage of construction there will be an increase in dust, noise and vibration from excavation, heavy machinery and truck movements at times throughout works. Measures are in place to minimise these impacts as much as practicable.
Traffic, cyclists and pedestrian safety controls
Please adhere to all temporary traffic management in place, including lowered speed limits, and follow any
instructions from the crew on site.
Shared path users please be mindful of the potential of vehicles crossing the shared path to enter and exit the work site. Our drivers will give way to pedestrians and cyclists, however we do ask that you please slow down when passing the site access to assist in keeping everyone safe.

Noise
