Details
Stage 3 – Aldwins Road (Marcroft Street to Ferry Road)
Work is about to start on stage three. Crews will continue from stage two south along the eastern side of Aldwins Road between Marcroft Street and Ferry Road installing the new separated cycleway and making improvements to the footpath.
When
We’ll start stage three on 27 August. Work will take approximately three weeks (weather dependent).
Work includes
- installing the new separator kerb for the protected cycleway
- constructing new kerb crossings and reshaping sections of footpath
- installing tactile paving
- upgrading stormwater sumps to cycle-safe lids
- installing road humps at Bass Street and Edmonds Street
- line marking and applying coloured surfacing to the cycleway.
Traffic impacts
- Road closures -
Bass Street and Edmonds Street will each be closed for four days from 31 August at the Aldwins Road intersections. A detour will be available via Matlock Street.
Matlock Street will be closed once Bass and Edmonds have reopened; detour via Edmonds Street.
- Southbound traffic will be reduced to one lane through the work area.
- The worksite will move progressively along the road as work advances.
- A temporary bus stop will be provided while the existing stop is relocated.
- Limited on-road parking while work is underway.
Information for residents
- Access for vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists to impacted properties within our worksite will be maintained.
- Please advise our team if you have specific requirements e.g. medical visits, large deliveries, home help or any planned works.
- There’ll be increased construction noise and vibration at times. We’ll do our best to keep this to a minimum.
- The work will have no impact on any services such as water, electricity, telecommunications and gas.
- The timing of the work and certain activities will depend on the weather and the roads.
- Please put your bins out as usual by 6am on collection day.

Noise
There may be increased noise, dust and vibrations during work but it shouldn’t impact on your power, water, gas or phone services.

Safety is our biggest priority so please keep children and pets away from worksites.
Bins
Please put your bins out as usual before 6am on your collection day. Our crew will move and return them if needed.
