Stage 4 - the final stage on Harewood Road will begin on 7 September. It is set to finish by the end of October and covers Harewood Road between Gardiners Road and Farrington Avenue. We'll be replacing the water main on the northside of the road and sub-main pipes on both sides of the road.
You may have seen the crews beginning along this section, carrying out service investigations. This starts ahead of the main works and moves at a faster rate. We use this to identify the best placement for the pipe, which gets installed soon after.
The works do require one citybound lane to be closed and the removal of parking on the northside of the road. The southern entrance to Cotswold Avenue will be closed for a portion of this stage. Temporary bus stops will be provided next to Cotswold Avenue. Please follow detour and bus stop signage.
- Sections of approximately 400m will be fenced off and services fully reinstated before work shifts.
- Our contractor will notify each property in advance as they progress along the route. Additional letter drops will also be distributed to keep you updated.
- Please let the contractor know if you have any specific requirements for property access, (e.g. medical visits, home help, large vehicle deliveries or other planned work on your property).
We intend to complete the majority of the works during daytime hours to minimise night work. However, due to traffic management and water shut off impacts along Harewood Road, some of the work will need to be completed at night. Surrounding residents will be notified before the works commence, and the road will be reinstated at the end of each shift.
Please adhere to signage and allow extra time to avoid delays.
Water shut-offs
Some properties will experience a temporary water shut-off during the night works. If your property is impacted, you will receive a notice about this before the work starts.
Impacts of the works
- The nature of the works mean they will generate noise, dust and vibrations.
- We aim to complete most of the work during the day, limiting the amount of night works.
- The rolling closure allows the team to have a safer working environment, and they will be able to complete the works faster with this method.
- Access to residences and businesses may be briefly impacted. The contractor will make access available as soon as possible. Please advise them using the contact details above if you have any specific property access requirements.
- Pedestrian detours will be in place, please adhere to signage.
