Details
Work update – 08 September 2026
Work is progressing across the first three stages of the project. We thank you for your patience as we build the new cycleway connection. Below is an update on work in stages one, two and three.
Stage one – signals at Aldwins, Harrow, Marcroft streets
- Harrow Street remains closed for the duration of the project, to mid-November.
- Traffic management, including no stopping/parking, remains in place on parts of Harrow Street, Bordesley Street and Newcastle Street.
Marcroft Street closure
- Marcroft Street was closed as planned in August, however work was delayed due to technical issues in the design of foundations for the new signal poles. Marcroft Street is now open as we work through the details.
- The Council has also asked us to do some extra kerbing and safety work on this corner.
- We will be in touch later this month with an update on the work and intersection closure. It is likely we will need to close the intersection for up to three weeks. We will give you a week’s notice ahead of the closure.
- We apologise for the changes and additional closures required. Thank you for your patience while we work through this.
Stage two – Aldwins from Linwood Avenue to Marcroft Street
- Work is almost complete on this stage of the project.
- Traffic management will be lifted by the end of this week. Remaining minor work will happen next week.
Stage three – Aldwins from Marcroft Street to Ferry Road
- Work is now well underway on this stage of the project
- Both Edmonds and Bass streets will be open by next week.
- Matlock Street is now closed at intersection of Aldwins Road. The closure will remain in place until 16th September.

General information for residents
- Access for vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists to impacted properties within our worksite will be maintained.
- Please advise our team if you have specific requirements e.g. medical visits, large deliveries, home help or any planned works.
- There’ll be increased construction noise and vibration at times. We’ll do our best to keep this to a minimum.
- The work will have no impact on any services such as water, electricity, telecommunications and gas.
- The timing of the work and certain activities will depend on the weather and the roads.
- Please put your bins out as usual by 6am on collection day.

Noise
There may be increased noise, dust and vibrations during work but it shouldn’t impact on your power, water, gas or phone services.
Safety
Safety is our biggest priority so please keep children and pets away from worksites.
Bins
Please put your bins out as usual before 6am on your collection day. Our crew will move and return them if needed.
