| Description |
Starting from Kinloch Road car park, cross the stile on the western side and follow the waratahs on a faint benched track through an open paddock. Drop into a small gully, cross the stile and turn left, heading downhill. Once through the double gates, continue downhill, following the waratahs, until you reach another stile. Cross the stile and head steeply downhill through scrubby bush. Almost at the end of the spur, turn right to ford the river and discover the 'Lost Gate'. Turn left and head uphill on an overgrown 4WD track. Upon gaining a more obvious benched track follow it, traversing mostly through bush, until you come to the Te Kaio Valley Track junction. You can follow this to Te Oka Bay Road or head back to the car park via Middle Spur Track. |
| Warning |
In winter, tracks can be wet and slippery, so please proceed with caution. After heavy rain, the river crossing may be difficult. |
